Draycotes opening day hit dizzy heights as every angler caught fish, and for many, plenty of them !! Aided by the spring like weather, the anglers were first greeted with a frost, though it was soon a distant memory, as the sun broke through to yield a spring like day. The fish responded well in what seemed every inch of the lake, as people were catching fish everywhere. A good head of fish from the pevious 3 years of Management under Fishery Management UK, and a pre-season stocking of 6,000 fish helped Draycote to its best opening day yet.
One angler snapped his rod on Hensbrough bank and the fish took off with the top 2 sections, only for his boat partner to catch the rod, with the fish 2 hours later just off Farborough Spit.
Best flies were Pitsford Pea, Blue Flash Damsels, black and green boobies, goldhead damsels, orange blobs, and black buzzers
best lines were -di-3, intermedites, and some on a floating line with buzzers
rod average 20
Saturdays boats are fully booked. A dozen boats still remain for this coming Sunday. With warmer weather forecast it should be a great weekend for fishing.
