Draycote Water Fishing Report Sunday 15th March 2015

Draycote Water weekly report week ending Sunday15th March 2015

Telephone Number 02045 772193

Report.

The second week of the season here at Draycote seems to have gone pretty well. Despite some very negative weather reports it has been a fairly mild week, with promises of heavy showers that just never  appeared.

The fishing itself has been excellent from both boat and bank as once again the fish seem to be holding in close to the banks and the drop offs.  Anglers have been reporting some good sport from all around the reservoir, with some anglers getting into double figures before lunchtime.

Most of the fish being caught are only a few feet down in the water, so floating lines, midge tips or even an intermediate line seem to be the order of the day.

Various small lures coloured black and green have been working very well alongside damsels, as have small pink or orange lures on the odd occasion.

Buzzers have also accounted for a large number of fish, particularly in the early afternoon when the temperature rises a little. Any colour seems to do the trick, as long as it’s black.

Good bags of fish have been reported, in fact too numerous to mention here, but the best 3 individual fish of the week must be; George Denny, with a 5 lb Brownie, Paul Beasleys’ 6lb Brownie caught off the pontoon, and lastly, but by no means least, Sheena Goodes’ 8lb overwintered Rainbow caught just off C buoy.

In order to maintain the accuracy of our records could all anglers please ensure that they fill in the catch return sheet before departure.  If not in the lodge it will be found on the counter in the gutting room next door.

Boat anglers are also politely reminded of the ruling that there is no anchoring within 100 yards of any pontoon or aerators. This is especially relevant to the harbour pontoon as its own mooring chains & anchors extend out a considerable distance from the end of the harbour & are easily fouled.

Bank Anglers car passes should be, booked prior to coming fishing as we only have a limited number available.

Boat anglers may wish to note that we now have a rudder for hire at the daily rate of £7. It can be pre booked at the time you make your boat booking.
